Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) is a multidisciplinary educational, scientific and innovative complex with a well-developed infrastructure and modern material and technical base that provides multi-level training for qualified specialists in various specialities. The University is a leader in training specialists in the light and chemical industries, fashion industry, business, artistic and technical modelling and design of industrial products, art, economics and consumer services, law, etc. It is one of the oldest technological institutions of higher education in the country. The University has a number of unique scientific schools that carry out research and innovation activities, and they are recognised both in Ukraine and abroad. The beginning of the University's history is October 1, 1930, when the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of Leather Industry and the Kyiv Textile Institute were opened. In May 1944, these Institutes were merged and named the Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry (KTILP); since 1993 – the State Academy of Light Industry of Ukraine (SALIU); since 1999 - Kyiv State University of Technologies and Design (KSUTD); since 2001 - Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) Over the years of fruitful activity, tens of thousands of specialists have been trained for the economy of Ukraine, as well as for the countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. It demonstrates the University's ability to compete in the global market for educational services. The University is proud of its academic staff and research schools. The main achievement and pride are our alumni, who form a strong engineering and technical basis not only in the light and chemical industries but also in business, design, consumer services, defence and instrumentation. Among our alumni, there are government officials and public authorities at various levels, scientists, famous designers, successful leaders and businesspersons, and specialists in various fields of life. The University operates in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and the Charter of the University. The mission of the University is to promote sustainable development of the region and the country; meet the educational needs of the population regardless of the place of residence/stay; train competitive specialists for the economy; participate actively in the personal development of each person, his education and improvement of abilities. The purpose of the University is to teach and educate young people; provide high-quality educational services necessary for society, regardless of the place of residence/stay of consumers; develop the personal potential of participants in the educational and scientific process, their creative abilities, and active social and civic position. The goal is to position the formation of KNUTD as the best and most influential university of applied research at the international level with a high-quality educational and scientific reputation. The task of the University is to ensure high-quality educational activities for higher education seekers in compliance with safety conditions, development of scientific research and transfer of technologies and innovations to the real sector of the economy, and integration into the world market of science and education. Emphasising the achieved level of development and taking into account today's challenges, one of the tasks of the University is its transformation into a leading research and educational-scientific centre for the training of highly qualified specialists and scientific and academic personnel of the highest qualification. The performance of important functions assigned to the University in terms of training specialists, formation of the national elite of Ukraine, and promotion of Ukraine's integration into the European and world economic, educational and scientific space as an equal partner requires the effective development of scientific research and the transfer of technologies to the real sector of the national economy, active participation in the socio-economic development of territories. We focus on working on the principles of sustainable development of an entrepreneurial university. The University has high professional and educational recognition, confirming its competitiveness in positions of national and international rankings. Currently, the highest achievement of KNUTD is inclusion in one of the most influential international university rankings, QS World University Rankings: EECA, which is the regional ranking of universities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The QS rating evaluates the educational and scientific activity of universities based on the results of surveys of more than 140 thousand experts, academicians, and employers, as well as indicators of scientific, international and educational activity. Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design took 551-600th place among 688 universities in Europe, 81st place in Eastern Europe, 13th place among 33 Ukrainian universities and 5th place among Kyiv universities. In December 2022, based on the results of an expert evaluation, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was again included in the "Green Metric World University Rankings", which allows the University to become a member of the global network of higher education institutions implementing the sustainable development paradigm, the content of which is the interaction and integration of economic, social and ecological dimensions. The University is an active participant in this program in the field of higher education in international academic mobility, cooperation between universities and European studies, as well as other directions and areas, in particular CA 1. Academic mobility. International (credit) mobility is implemented by students and teachers from 12 European universities, namely Birmingham City University (Great Britain), Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece), Baltic International Academy (Latvia), Ege University (Turkey), Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania ), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, (Switzerland), Matej Bel University (Slovak Republic), University of Applied Sciences "Lavoslav Ružička" (Croatia), Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium), the Higher School of Management (Republic of Poland), the Higher School of Management and Administration (Republic of Poland), the Higher School of Business in Dombrowa Gurnicz (Republic of Poland ), Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University (Kazakhstan), Mingachevir State University (Azerbaijan), and others. About 1,000 representatives of the University (academic staff members and higher education seekers) took part in international academic mobility events (internships, practice, forums, round tables, training sessions, etc.) in various formats of participation. CA 2. Erasmus+ projects for the development of innovations and exchange of successful practices. Thus, in 2024, the University will successfully implement the "International Network of Virtual Youth Business Hubs" projects by teachers and students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design. The projects "European Fashion TEX Academy of Young Designers for the Study of Innovative Technologies in Digital Clothing Design" and "3D Concepts for Fashion Education in Ukraine" are implemented by students and teachers of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion. Cooperation is carried out under the twinning program with the partner Sheffield Hallam University (Great Britain). With the assistance of the DAAD international organisation, in 2024, the University successfully introduced and implemented the project "Digital Ukraine: Ensuring Academic Success during the Crisis" together with the Technical University of Berlin (Germany). "Upgrading the content and improving the teaching quality of online courses in computer engineering" jointly with the Cooperative State University of Baden-Württemberg (Germany).
